Give me a happy...

**CALLING INTERNATIONAL RESCUE**

Oh my good garden gnomes. I am still in a weird funk. Darren tried to slap it out of me, but I enjoyed that too much and while it did lead to a brief funk respite, it returned with a vengeance, um, after... Such moodiness has led to a severe case of foot-in-mouth disease, which is worse than swine flu and certainly on a par of stupidity of flying jet planes near buildings in NYC. Par example, I walked straight past an old colleague yesterday and didn’t even recognise her. To be fair to me, she usually has the personal style of Ellen DeGeneres (trousers, pumps and a boyish quiff) and was now wearing a floral print dress and had permed her hair. It was quite the abrasive shock – like seeing Ellen in a frock and ringlets! My shock and moody funk led to the following words coming out of my mouth (like word vomit as Kady would say in the epic Mean Girls) “Oh my god, I didn’t recognise you, you look so different. Like a young Susan Boyle!” Sweet Shane McGowen – why she didn’t punch me immediately in the nose is utterly beyond me :(

Then my mood at work hasn’t been fantastic today either – lots of my previously mentioned fired colleagues leave today and I was stuck writing our company response to the swine flu pandemic. It’s made me a bit paranoid. I have already personalised my FFP2 face mask and am walking around with a huge bottle of hand sanitiser in my pocket! So no I am not pleased to see you. I might have gone a bit too far when I started pressing the lift/elevator button with my fountain pen. Really we should all be furious with the farmer who sodomised that poor porker and started this whole thing off...

So i need an international rescue to lift my mood – and soon! I turn 35 on Sunday and can’t be in a weird depressive funk for that! So recommend happy songs, happy films, happy tv show episodes (sniffle, last Pushing Daisies this Friday!) and get me back to my normal only slightly manic depressive self...

(This has gone some way to cheering me up!)

  1. These two songs make me happy. They're not poppers o'clock, though.

  2. Wait...fellow Taurus? Sunday? We must celebrate DOUBLY when I see you in two weeks! Ah, now I have something else to live for!

Uh...happy music. Songs that make me instantly happy..."Let It Whip" by the Dazz Band, "Never Been To Me" by Charlene (just because it's so stupid), "Gonna Catch You" by Lonnie Gordon, and Shanice's "I Love Your Smile".

  3. The Princess Bride (usually the book, but in this case the movie seems most called for) always cheers me up.

Umm...you could look at some lovely pictures of Kris Allen? Yeah, OK, there's a repeat in there, but it's so cute it had to be included twice.

  6. Poor Paul. Chin up buckaroo! I always get happy spinning Reach by S Club 7, when the sun is shining outside. As it is now. Plus Blue are reforming temporarily and No Doubt are back. That's gotta be a good thing, right?

  7. Awww. I hope you cheer up soon!

I recommend Brit High-Start Of Something or The Sats-Just Can't Get Enough for pure unadulturated fun, or Brit High-Picking Up The Pieces if you want a gradual pick-me-up!

    Hope that helped a little....

  8. Calling from Canada =)! Yay!
...Oh no, Paul! I'm gone for a week or two and you've become all moody.
You really miss me that much? ;)

I'm going to wish you a HAPPY early birthday (note the HAPPY in capital letters because that's what you should be!) now because I am jetting off to Hong Kong (for a month) on the day of your birthday.

Will listening to some Simon make you happy? By the way, they're finally showing Spectacular in Canada but I'm not gonna be here!

I think this comment is getting long enough and going nowhere. I promise I'll comment whenever I can =)!

... If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands. Do it, Paul! Clap your hands! Haha =P

  9. Catty - not poppers o clock no, but very good all the freaking same :) Thanks!

John - well, I love your smile was one of my top tunes of the 90s. Absolutely loved it. And Never Been To Me isn't stupid at all! Sometimes i think that i've been to paradise but i've never been to me. And i've been undressed by Kings. Well David King. 1995. But almost.

PPG - good call. I adore the princess bride. How 'mazing is that film?! And Kris Allen. Sigh. Is it shallow for me to want him to win because he is the prettiest contestant since Blake Lewis?!

Adam - bwahahaha only ugly people should be unhappy?!?! So cruel. Brilliant. No wonder Cynthia in payroll looks so darn miserable :(

Anon - you've just been dying to use that shallow-ers/followers quote haven't you>!

Ben - Reach is always brilliant. Love when little Jon starts singing a top of the bus, ala Priscilla!! And yes, i'm semi happy about Blue. It will give Lee Ryan something to do.

Aaron - you know what? I did watch the live finale version of Start of Something and it did work. Love it when Jez slides onto stage on his knees (love a guy on his knees :P) and then proceeds to dance with dusty jeans :)

Totoroll - well listening to simon always makes me happy. And if you aren't going to be in canada for spectacular you should at least order the dvd!! I refuse to clap my hands though. Not even for you!
