THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS
- Never try to pee on someone: It may come as no big surprise that I was an enormous doofus at school. However, I had my own Ace Gang even back then and sixth form was some of the funniest times of my life. For some unknown reason one hot summers day, I was in the boy's first floor bathroom and noticed that the little window was directly above where some mean boys were sitting. I clearly lost all reasoning because I thought the perfect revenge would be to piddle out the window on their heads. I climbed onto the top of the cistern, placed my you know what out the window and got ready to revenge-pee all over them. Only there was this sickening crack. And the cistern broke. As it did, I fell back so hard that I knocked the locked door off it's hinges and lay unconscious covered by toilet water. Oh and you pee when you are unconscious too. Trying explaining that to the school nurse :/
- Only bears should shit in the wood: Whilst on a ski trip with school in France, I got my first taste of getting tipsy. On half a can of cider. We had left the confines of the hotel and had a right merry old romp in the local village. Only all the teachers were drunk in the hotel bar, so we couldn't exactly sneak back in and I was desperate for the toilet. Tragically a number two. My "friends" convinced me to do it over a drain at the back of the hotel and despite it being freezing out, i was drunk enough to think this was a good idea. It was not. It was very icy and I lost my balance and slid all the way down the hill at the back of the hotel, grazing my ass to buggery and leaving an unpleasant trail behind :/ :/ :/ I was shamed, pained and bleeding and all my friends could do was laugh like hyenas :/
- Never be ashamed of your choices: I happen to still think that, despite powerhouse vocals (Leona Lewis), boyband magnificence (JLS - until Club is Alive) and quite good pop (Alexandra Burke), Same Difference are my most favourite act to come from The X Factor with Shayne "will my 3rd album EVER be released" Ward a very close second. There is something unshamedly brilliant about Same Difference's complete love of pop. Just check them out singing their little hearts out above and try not to sing along and do the "photo frame" dance move. Nigh on impossible...
- I thought reindeers were mythical for 33 years: I actually thought reindeer weren’t real, you know because of the whole santa not real (gasp!) thing and them being linked to him. I only found out last year. I shit you not. I still like to think that Hippogriffs ARE real though so make of that twisted logic what you will!
- 1999-2002 was pop gold for me: S Club! A*Teens! Hear'say! Kylie's Light Years! Deborah Gibson's MYOB! However the pinnacle was my beloved Steps :) I have been to see Steps 7 times. Even at my youngest I was 25!! And i accidentally punched a girl so hard in the face during tragedy that her devil horns fell off.
- At least it wasn't Slytherin: Everytime I do one of those "which house at Hogwarts would you be in?" tests on facebook or the like, I end up in Hufflepuff. Every single time. Even if I try and distort the answers!! So it is my fate to be a life long Hufflepuff. And you know what? I think that is more than ok. I am total hufflepuff.
- My tv choices are often dubious: Although I do watch quality tv from time to time (Twin Peaks, Lost, Buffy, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, Weeds, True Blood, et al), my dvd cabinet is littered with badly written trash that I can't help but love. And when I can't buy it, I will track it down another way. Ergo, I have a 1TB external hard drive that contains every episode (in wildly varying quality) of Dynasty, Prisoner Cell Block H and the greatest soap of all time Sunset Beach. The finales of all of them are quite quite bonkers in their own unique ways :)
- I only read children's books: This is not completely true, but 90% of my reading comes from this genre. And I don't think that is anything to get sniffy about. Some of the greatest books of all time are written for children. My current read, Withering Tights, is bound to be a literary classic.

oh. my. that's a lot of embarrassing information to get in 2 minutes. I was laughing so hard at your unfortunate toilet exploits!! Still, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger... right?! Are you stronger?!
ReplyDeleteNice choices from Scissor Sisters and Kylie albums on your chart :) And another week for Maroon 5! Great!!
My goodness! I knew you enjoyed water-play, but this is quite different! Hehehe... ! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're better today. Pop music cures everything... or most everything!
Loving the post of course!
ReplyDelete1 and 2: I agree with the lessons learnt from these. On the plus side, you have two stories for the times when you're in the pub with your friends and you each go round and tell a shocking poo/wee story (or is that just me and my friends?).
3. What is going on with Wardy?
5. My gold pop years would be 1995-1998 (with 1997 as the peak), the era I disovered the CD single. You have Eternal, Natalie Imbruglia, Mariah at her best, All Saints in combats, etc). I even didn't mind a bit of Blur.
Will Steps ever reform? I was never a fan (don't hate me) but I did like Stomp a LOT.
6. I have never read Harry Potter. Is that a shocking revealation? So I'm not entirely sure of the implications of being a Hufflepuff.
Look forward to more revealations...
I think if anyone else had told the pissing story I would have never believed it but as it's you it must be true. How's your mixed-genre autobiography coming along? You really should do one.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't have laughed at you (accidentally) punching a Steps fan but I'm sure we've all wanted to do that.
Ben - oh i am definitely stronger. Now if I want to pee on anyone, i have the muscles to hover above the toilet by pressing my thighs against the wall :P And yes, I couldn't wait any longer for new Kylie/SS album tracks to enter my chart! Not sure if that song is the official next single from SS, but Kylie's definitely is, even though her album has diluted the number of plays All The Lovers gets!!
ReplyDeleteLarry - and even if it doesn't cure it, it certainly makes everything sound a bit better for a few minutes. Sigh. Oh Eric is adorable!!
Mark - i tell those stories shockingly often. In fact, if I looked I'd be pretty sure I posted them on the blog before now!! No idea what is going on with Wardy but it is annoying me. In my alternate reality pop universe mind, I pretend that Swedish popstar Darin's Flashback album was actually Shayne's third album and we are now awaiting a fourth... Is that another revelation that I even think that way?!?! oh and being a hufflepuff is quite amazing, so i am quite pleased :) And no need for Steps to reform now Same Diff are here!! Thanks for the influence for this post btw :)
DAnUK - i knew you would enjoy the punched Steps fan :P And the mixed semi autobiographical novel is... well it's coming. I've hit a bit of a snag in linking all the bizarre happenings together into a cohesive storyline but it's happening slowly!!
I enjoyed the amusing revelations Paul, makes me realize what a tame, subdued life I've led! :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, that post was amazeballs! YOU FAIL though, Hufflepuff is for losers :P
ReplyDeletePS - I own a Slytherin house hoodie. SLYTHERIN WINS! ;)
Wow, those are REAL stories? My God--I want to see those in a movie NOW. You made my Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI see your chart is ready for round 2 from Kylie and Scissor Sisters as they unleash their "way" songs. And what horrifying bathroom stories. And speaking of Hufflepuff, I just invaded their common room in Lego Harry Potter. Quite fun!
ReplyDeleteI love 3. It's easy to say, tough to do, but so important. One of those "even if I don't always get there 100%, you're better off for trying" guidelines.
ReplyDeleteAlso, ditto the love for 4. And 5. Ha at 6, but you know, your ultimate response to it is very Hufflepuff. The people from that house are probably what makes the world go 'round and actually any fun at all.
I've now begun to imagine hearing "Get Outta My Way" on American radio, which can only lead to trouble and heartbreak :-/ Still, it's good to see it on your chart!
Firstly, I really am jealous - I would have DIED to have been part of your Ace Gang at school :P
ReplyDeleteErm....Oof...Point one? - Wowza...2...Agreed.
3 - agreed. Don't EVER be ashamed or regret, and don't worry about what everyone else says!
4... - No, I like :) - Don't quite get, but like :)
5....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! - Ppor girl... :)
7. Mine too - I really do love :), and 8.. See 3 :)
I love that !!
My revelations - Yes, I do spend most nights a week, singing along to my music, with dance steps, planning a mega show... - I think that's enough for now :)
Paul - wow yay congrats to maroon 5 to be #1 again thats great! hey do me a favorite and please if u ever talk to simon again tell im im sorry for whatever i done to make him block me on twitter and tell him to please unblock me cause i miss him! and i dont know whats going on in his life anymore pleasee!
