Single Selection: Stooshe ~ My Man Music

While it's no secret I've spent the last couple of months since the release of London With The Lights On absolutely smitten with Kiss Chase (see here), I'm more than happy that the bubbly, percolating My Man Music finally gets an official release today. Surely one of the most infectious songs of the summer, it's almost like a musical update of Under The Sea (from The Little Mermaid) for 2013 with it's reggae tinged, sun drenched vibes that can't fail to have all who listen dropping it like it's hot on the dancefloor. The girls each give distinctive individual personality on their sparkling solo sections - yet when they sing together it's pure magic as they blend together in a flawless, beautifully textured way. Lyrically, it's an ode to the classic music souls they are and that's what they like to listen to (and this has certainly been evidenced in some way on all their music releases to date); then position it as a metaphor for the type of loving they like to be part of. It's infernally catchy and has a brilliant party atmosphere video to accompany it (above). Loving the rapid fire lyrics of the middle 8 leading into one final, singalong run through of that chilled, laid back chorus. Pop on your shades, ice the lemonade and grab the one you love & shimmy - cos once you've submitted to this there ain't no release from it's exquisite charms :)

(And as if that wasn't enough, these harmony loving divas have covered The Supremes' Where Did Our Love Go for Digital Spy as part of the promo for this single. Their gentle, insightful acoustic version accentuates the inherent sadness that's always been within this song - oft hidden from the casual listener by it's sprightly hook. This delicate take is utterly flawless from start to finish - warming guitar provides the perfect backdrop for sumptuous harmonies and passionate solos. The performance is also a joy to watch as they pour so much into it - absolutely stunning. More like this please. Much, much more...)
