ElectroVamp - Instinctual
(Electro)Stamp your feet into time to the music because the scintillating new single from Electrovamp serves class, sass and shake yo ass all in 3 minutes and 27 seconds of swirling & percolating dance pop. Essentially the brilliant Instinctual is a love letter to floorfillers - perhaps the best track of it's ilk since A*Teens sang Floorfiller with such ebullient verve. The girls seductively sing of the all consuming power that an intoxicating beat can have - how the hedonistic nature of a titillating dance track can unleash the animalistic qualities in you as you shimmy your shapes in time to the rhythm; mesmerising all in your vision of sight with your animated allure. Of course when you sing about such evocative stuff you have to have the goods to back it up - and we're all jolly fortunate that the duo of Electrovamp deliver in spades (whatever that means). Set to a pulsating drum loop & cascading synths (that then fire back up like rockets in the sky), the girls sound absolutely in their element giving euphoric vocal realness & effortlessly managing to stand out against such an inveigling backdrop of music. The lyrics of "Hey record play-a/spinning over they-a" is perhaps one of the most audacious couplets I've heard in the longest time, but it's bonkers insinuation into the song totally works and sets up that all pervading chorus; a refrain that will have you singing along on your first listen and then weedling it's way into your subconscious for the months to come. Instantly engaging stuff - give me more indeed! I want amazing cover art! (Check - see here) A knock your socks off video (on the way apparently)! And some remixes so gag-worthy that I'll be choking on the reswizzled eleganza for days. Girls - you've set my expectations high. Don't let me down :D
