Young Rising Sons - High

I've had Young Rising Sons on my radar for a while but it was only when - during a particularly grueling work day - their current single "High" popped up on mp3 shuffle and completely infused me with an invigorating endorphin rush that I remembered that it was my want, nay, my duty to tell the world about their vibrant brand of pop-rock. The New Jersey based foursome certainly know a thing or two about crafting enduring melodies that effortlessly seep into your brain and linger long after their music has finished. High is a peppy, uplifting ditty set to a prominent guitar riff, an endearing keyboard melody and surrounded by whistling that makes it feel like an entirely welcoming and convivial experience. An engaging lead vocal provides the narrative thrust of the track, all about letting go and just embracing the opportunities that life has to offer you. And gosh darn it, if that chorus with it's liberating falsettos and incessantly addictive hook doesn't send dopamine rushing to your brain, well you may need to check your pulse as it's one of the most thrilling pop choruses of 2014. It's a fling your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care type anthem that everyone deserves to have in their life to provide a mood elevator. It's utterly exhilarating to have a band provide such a cohesive, thrilling pop song that demands to be played on radio loud and often. I can't wait to see what the fellas are up to next - and their YouTube channel has just been updated to show clips of them working on their debut album. It can't come soon enough...
