Tides - Eyes Off You

Following on from their attention grabbing single So Close my favourite rock-pop combo Tides are back with an equally addictive new track entitled Eyes Off You. It's a fantastic start to the new year for the effortlessly likeable group as the new song previews their upcoming EP (Spare Time, released in the spring) and builds anticipation for their headline show at the Barfly in London on March 12th (tickets here). It's a cracking song that will not only satiate their current ever growing fan base but also win them much deserved new admirers thanks to relatable lyrics and a memorable hook. It's a lyrical tale of instant animal attraction that leaves you a little bit speechless from the frisson of excitement that runs down your spine as you catch the eye of that lad/lady who is looking mighty fine. It's about knowing that fate will no doubt bring the two of you together but until your palms stop sweating and your mouth doesn't feel as dry then visual appreciation is all that's happening in the here and now. Lead singer Aaron gives an effusive vocal performance that brings to life the sentiments of the song, particularly in the chorus where he guides the melody along so it feels like an inviting convivial singalong (that will no doubt sound great when sung by an adoring crowd at live gigs). Tides has always been a real collaborative band affair where the instrumental is just as essential as the vocal and that's no different on Eyes Off You - frenetic guitar riffs dance alongside an energetic percussive rhythm with the bass providing enough deep 'n' dirty seduction to get you properly in the mood; everything coalesces to provide a vibrant, ingratiating tune that you'll be singing long after the song has finished. And what more can you really ask for from a pop song? Tides - soundtracking your life before you the moments have even happened. Now that's avant garde music for you :) Can't wait to see what they come up with next...
