When funk driven musical fusionists The Peach Trees bring a vocalist like Ernie Jackson on board for their new single, This Is The Love, you know I'm going to sit up and pay attention. When both acts are versatile and innovative creators of music, their collision is destined to be the stuff of legends - and This Is The Love does not disappoint. It's a swirling and intoxication concoction about the realisation that love is right in front of your eyes. The music is gradually, beautifully and expertly textured as the song progresses and soon invades every synapse of your being with it's glorious hand-clap beats, those resonant and dance-infused piano chords and the seductive sax that accentuates every ounce of emotion Ernie is singing with. Each note, beat and sound is an active partner in delivering the message of the song meaning that Ernie has to stand shoulder to shoulder with the music, letting it guide his performance (without letting it overtake him). He does so brilliantly and delivers a sterling vocal. He's always had this appealing rock tone to his voice and it can provide an exquisite juxtaposition to the sentiments of the narrative without being too gruff or arrogant. He actually sounds positively exuberant and giddy in a dancefloor setting and soon has you swaying your hips and shimmying along to that irrepressible groove. It's entirely glorious and is exactly the type of song you need to - and want to - listen to again and again, each play revealing hidden facets that add to the delight of it's existence.
