Giabiconi - Love To Love You Baby

I've always loved a bit of euro-pop, but ever since Britain (foolishly) voted to leave the EU I've found myself clinging to the marvelous music that comes from the continent. I've always loved how, wherever you live, music breaks down barriers and crosses borders regardless of cultural influence, language and regulatory controls. I've been immersed in some quality French pop this week thanks to singer, model and all round good looking fella Giabiconi and his Donna Summer sampling summer smash Love To Love You Baby. I first became aware of Giabiconi via his debut album thanks to an Ed Drewett penned track Sliding Doors and have followed his career ever since. This latest gem merges the disco seduction of the Donna original with a hedonistic, balmy summer groove that infuses Balearic beats and tropical rhythms into the proceedings. Giabiconi adds tantalising spice to the song by imbuing every syllable he sings with a passionate longing that oozes sex appeal - whether it be the aching way he sings that indelible refrain or the urgent yearning in his vocal as he shares his desires during the verses. He lets the music swirl around him, but always keeps a firm hand on the melody, edging this to giddy heights that leave you breathless. As with all good songs about lust, love and sex, the music and vocal are representative of the act itself with the middle eight reaching aching levels of release and slowing down the tempo for ultimate satisfaction. It really allows the song to breathe and the listener to steady themselves before one more run through of that exhilarating chorus. As if all that wasn't enough, the video is a vivid portrayal of the lyrical journey Giabiconi takes us on, letting us see what forbidden fruit looks like and understand why it tastes so darned good. He's writhing around, tied to the bed - and when the music is as orgasmic as this then my safe words have to be "More Please". Essential for those late nights when the sun's just gone down and the heat has stripped away your inhibitions...
