LectroLips - Electric Storm

There are smatterings of brilliant pop duos throughout the history of pop. Wham. Eurythmics. Erasure. PJ and Duncan. The current line up of Bananarama. And, if we wait long enough, probably future line ups of Spice Girls GEM (ME?) and Take That. Add the brilliant, creative, passionate, innovative and tall drinks of water Lectro Lips to this illustrious list. Their latest track, Electric Storm, joins an eclectic line up of songs that, while they straddle different genres, tempos and themes, all have exquisite melody, passionate lyrics and erudite vocals as the common thread. Electric Storm is a true glistening gem - a mid-tempo synth ballad built around a pulsing groove and delicate, dancing synths that are as radiant as sunlight dancing off the rippling waters of a beautiful lake. The lead vocal has a beautiful, mellifluous flow to it that guides the lyrics through the shimmering instrumental, emerging like a butterfly from the cocoon. There's a symbiotic relationship between voice and instrument, both allowed to breathe which really lets the inherent beauty of this track's composition and beauty shine through. It's a tale, sung with wisdom and hope, of how turbulent life and love can be - yet within those rocky times there is salvation from those who care about us, succor from people with our best interests at heart. It's presented with no small air of wistful melancholy but this is perfectly balanced with a sense of belief in a better tomorrow. As the song progresses, the music embeds itself into your soul and you are soon clapping along with that middle 8 beat that gives you a sense of euphoria through an edification of your entire being. Powerful is the song that does this but Electric Storm is just that - a magnificent, rewarding and heartfelt gift to anyone who is sensible and open enough to embrace it. Just glorious.
