I'm an absolute sucker for a Nathalie Archangel song - and her latest, Wings, is a right bobby dazzler as me old mam used to say. Ably crafted by the dream team of Charlie Mason, Richard Hymas and Alex McKechnie, and superbly mixed by Sir Matt of Pop, Wings is a pulsing dance groove with a message which soars through the heavens thanks to its melodic majesty. Nathalie sings of prompting and encouraging people to achieve their full potential by taking a chance in life; nudging folk to believe in their talent and not be scared of the consequences of letting your creative spirit free. Its a beautifully sung confidence boost that will appeal to anyone hiding their light under a bushel (it could have been called "Spread Your Wings, Paul" but I doubt it would have found such an expansive audience). She's nurturing and persistent, like a sonorously gifted best friend who only speaks in lyrical tones that are swathed in decadent keyboard chords and lascivious rhythms. Matt brings out the euphoric nature of the song through his skilled understanding of a solid dance tune, mixing I Feel Love realness with 80s S/A/W magnificence to coalesce into an irresistible gem. For an alternate perspective, check out Stormby's equally potent Flying High mix - like a hi-nrg hymn, he adds thrilling rave-esque effects and manages to effectively pitch Ms Archangel as the most exhilarating preacher who has you testifying in time to the undulating beats. Utterly glorious whatever mix you listen to - a peppy pick me up as satisfying as any mood booster you can pick up at the pharmacy.
