After the massive, colossal success of Bad Day, a follow up album continued in much the same vein (Next Plane Home and Best Of Me were both quite good) and then he had a bit of a rest. Now he's back with a percolating pop tune about the dreaminess of being in love. It's all very uplifting, particularly the "hey, oh oh" backing refrain that bubbles throughout and a brilliant singalong, handclapping chorus that will no doubt having people singing along in their droves. And when you're young, foolish and in love, who doesn't want to be getting stupid dancing with Cupid??! Aces. It's already taking over my summer and wouldn't you blooming well know it? There's only a bobby dazzler of a swooning video to go with it. Read on and marvel at the wonder of it all :)
The video:
- Ooo it all kicks off with Daniel on the beach looking quite pensive. It seems quite overcast which is pretty much the state of Britain right now, so I can totally relate.
- BUGGER ME! Have you seen the size of Daniel's guns? Someone has been working out, n'est pas?
- There is a girl (with incredible eyes) and a fella stand-spooning on the same beach Daniel is looking pensive on. This is not happening at the same time. The couple are having a romantic alone moment...
- If, like me, you appreciate the fine male form, you will most probably want to pause at 17s and take a moment of your own. Miss Incredible Eyes fella is a right buff stud muffin...
- Daniel soundtracks their love as shots are interwoven of Miss Incredible Eyes frolicking on the beach with Mr Buff Stud Muffin & then the two of them looking at each other all moony eyed back in their bedroom. It makes you want to grab the one you love and shimmy...
- Now they are having a romantic picnic in an alcove on the beach. It's a bit like that montage at the beginning of Grease when Love Is A Many Splendoured Thing plays (and then Danny Zuko turns into an arsehole and Sandy has to abandon all her principles to lure him back in skin tight polyester. But I digress)...
- Daniel clutches his rippling man chest quite a lot. Frankly if I was that beefed, I would also be checking to see if it was still there :D Meanwhile that gorgeous chorus is playing and Mr Buff Stud Muffin is twirling his girl around in the lapping waves. They are as cute as a little puppy dog in a wonder woman outfit...
- Ooo a beach front house is for sale. This seems like a dreamy proposition, but when you consider the reality of potential flooding, labour day being totally crowded and soil erosion, it's not really that good a purchase. Plus now the couple are arguing. Booooo!
- (it's ok, Daniel's singing about the make up sex so they are on the couch brushing hair out of each other's eyes. UN-BOOO!)
- By the way, in case you haven't noticed, the couple are now played by different actors (I think unless aging makeup has got better since the last few minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), are now married and still ridiculously attractive.
- By 2m23, they've had quite a few kids and the house hasn't sunk into the sea. Cupid is certainly watching over them. And so is Dionysus, the god of fertility :D
- When Daniel sings "it's quite clear to me, we were always meant to be", my heart melts a little bit...
- Ooo lovely - 3m and they are now grandparents and the family is massive. So so adorable. So going to learn to play this song on piano for my parent's 50th anniversary this year.
- Best renewal of vows since Emily and Richard got back together on season 5 of the Gilmore Girls...
