Single Selection: Asher Monroe ~ Here With You (Studio & Acoustic)

Asher Monroe ~ Here With You (Single Version):

The more I hear of Asher Monroe, the more smitten with his music I become. Having already examined in frightening detail his videos for Hello Baby and Every Night, I was thrilled to discover a brand new Asher song had hit the internet overnight. Entitled Here With You, it sees Asher conjour up an Ibiza-infused dance epic that celebrates summer loving on those balmy summer nights. Superficially, it may appear similar to The Wanted's Glad You Came, but dig a little deeper and the song has a personality & pizzazz all of it's own. The propulsive nature of the backing track crescendos through each verse before exploding like a firework for the chorus. The "oh oh ohs" and percolating drum machine, combined with Asher's charismatic vocal conjoin to inspire a musical endorphin rush that will have you waving your hands in the air like a ninny. The muted middle 8 shows an understanding of how to pare a song back, ensuring the listener is on the edge waiting for one more triumphant chorus before it ends. Compared with the pure pop of Hello Baby & the more aggressive rock inspired Every Night, it's another facet of Asher's musical diversity that is great to hear. Can't wait to see the video! (PS, do check out the welcome to Asher Monroe clip. Great intro to the fella, though I personally liked outfit 5 best :D)...

Here With You (Acoustic version):

Thanks to Clevver Music's Live on Sunset series (gorgeous backdrop!), there is now an entirely charming version of the already ingratiating Here With You. For those of you familiar with Asher, you will have heard how he transformed his glittering pop hit Hello Baby into a stripped back, flowing delight; the results with Here With You are equally as effective and affecting. Though I'm not sure anyone has the right to look as breezily cool as Asher does (:D) the boy knows his music. Stripped of the beats & rave-esque atmosphere, the energetic & vibrant strumming guitar creates a more melliflous effect giving the song a smoother flow that brings to the fore the romantic, dreamy nature of the lyrics. Asher gives a fine vocal performance where the intonation in his delivery brings the lyrics to life, while the nuanced guitar riff complements this perfectly. It seems easy but it's incredibly well put together with a complete understanding of how to keep the sparkle of the original version (above) but showcase it in a completely different light. The "oh oh oh"s are still rather brilliant & act as the anchor between the two versions. And what a polite fella, thanking the guitarist at the end. All round win :) Tremendous!
