Single Selection: SirPAUL ~ Every Single Moment

It does feel a little weird writing about a SirPAUL single without it being preceded by "Armand Deluxe ft..." but although it's the lovely Mr DLX that bought the singer to my attention, it's his incredible pop music and singing that has gotten me to stick around. SirPAUL's latest release is the gloriously danceable, the tremendously infectious, the gyratingly groovesome Every Single Moment. Written by the main man himself (with the brilliantly named Alexander Kerkeus Brunton), it's a scintillating electro-pop gem that sizzles from start to finish. Lyrically, it's the stirring tale of trying to embrace every moment as it happens, living for the here and now, creating yourself some memories that are going to last through the ages - because the wasted moments are only going to cause you wistful sadness and a lifetime of regrets. And who can't relate to that - who hasn't been apart from a loved one, wishing they were back together as soon as humanly possible? What works wonders with this song is that often the harsh electronic edge of dance music can dull the sentiment it's trying to convey, but through SirPAUL's inviting vocals and some carefully considered production values there is never a risk of that happening here. It's set over some throbbing bass and an all pervading synth groove that penetrates every fibre of your being, the verses leave this shimmering starkly in the background while SirPAUL's voice takes centre stage; as the song builds more percussive finger snapping beats are added until it crescendos into a euphoric-lose-your-shit-like-you-just-dont-care explosive chorus - so frenetic and compulsive is it that it takes you breath away as you grab the one you love, gyrating and shimmying like your life depended on it. I'd say it's the perfect soundtrack to your Saturday night out, but that would be limiting it's potential when you just know a song this good ain't gonna rest come Sunday. Taken from his forthcoming album, Seventh Star, this is available to buy from 24th September 2013 although you lucky folk can hit repeat (and often) on his soundcloud page right now. SirPAUL - dominating your speakers and taking no prisoners!
