Mika - Ice Cream

You scream, I scream, we all scream with giddy delight at a potent new summer jam from the always fabulous Mika. As if you haven't guessed by now, the pop ace's new single is called Ice Cream and is delectably likable as the new frozen pecan and salted caramel treat from Marks and Spencer (other chilled brands are available). Taken from his upcoming album, My Name is Michael Holbrook, the shimmering song seems to take him full circle to his debut Life In Cartoon Motion. With irrepressible finger click beats, hip swaying rhythms and an infusion of electronica that makes you tingle, Mika delivers his dream like, care free lyrics with a simmering desire. Quite honestly, it's the best pop fantasy since Mariah's Fantasy - a vibrant wish filled, musical mirage come to life. The verses are as fresh as anything Mika's done to date, the equivalent of a cool breeze revitalising radio and Spotify play lists. That chorus is pop nirvana, an exhilarating riff giving you a sugar rush. If it conjures up images of infinitely cool dance moves on a sweltering hot beach, performed by a true-life range of beach bodies (all in fashion forward swim wear) then that ridiculously catchy hook has done its job. Pay attention pretenders to the throne for Mika is back with his crown firmly in position.
