Ah, David Lindgren. For many years one of the most dapper dressed dudes in pop - never far away from a natty shirt and tie combo, as timeless and classic as the hooks he bought through his effusive songs. Other than gifting the world with a few (admittedly delightful) Christmas songs over the past few years, Mr L has been rather quiet of late. Fear not though - he's back, in Miami Vice pastel revival realness with a song that isn't the Kylie standard but a tune equally as potent. Spinning Around (get out of his way) is one funk-laden tune, mixing vibrant elements of nu-disco with sassy horn infused grooves that will have your hips a swaying and shoulders shimmying before the ferocious beats of the chorus kick in. David sounds in his absolute element, his voice commanding the melody with a genuine sense of exhilaration and excitement which is a tangible vibe the listener easily connects with. In a score as sumptuous and rewarding as this one, it would be easy to lose the top line vocal but the production is spot on and David works in symbiotic partnership with the riveting rhythms. It all coalesces to make for one irresistible finger clicking, hand clapping, sing-along anthem which you can't get out of your head. And neither do you want to. The summer songs of 2019 are coming thick and fast and this is a solid gold contender.
