Since Ben Davidson broke out with his debut single smash, The Chain, it has been quite the journey for the affable young man. He's not only shared an album of engaging music with the world (the still-splendid No One Knows), he's curated a run of slam-dunk singles to promote said opus, opened up about his struggles with mental health on social media and advocated for healthy well-being of the body alongside the mind. This combination of musical and social media engagement has crafted a persona his ever growing fan base can relate to, accompanied songs that sound like they are custom built for your future favourite oldies playlist in years to come. He's gifting the world with something brand new this summer, a glistening new single in the form of Anything. Co-written with Dan Scholes and Paul Coxhead, this may be his most sensuous song yet. That doesn't mean it is titillation for the sake of provocative art - far from it. Ben has always had the ability to wear his heart on his sleeve and this continues with Anything. He shares his vulnerabilities and his desires with such poetic eloquence that it is like you are seeing the most aching parts of his soul. The joy here is that he doesn't just sing the song - he lives every nuanced moment; he imbues the words with that sense of trepidation of becoming truly intimate with someone whilst balancing it with that burning desire to give more when in the intensity of the moment. He's accompanied by a glorious instrumental that pulses perfectly alongside his soulful voice - elegant piano dances gracefully alongside a finger-click groove, all textured with swirling backing vocals and a chugging energy that puts you in the heartbeat of this earnest moment. Utterly triumphant step forward for the singer - a culmination of everything he has built so far with a clear eye on soaring even higher in the future.
