That's lovely for him, but when I'm in the same state of mind I focus on exhilarating pop music - and in the awful year of 2020 I've returned to The Lovers of Valdaro catalogue of singles. The thrilling blend of electro beats and synth riffs, alongside irrepressible hooks have made them one of the most exciting pop duos since Erasure. As the year draws to a close, they've gifted us with a brand new song. Eternal Embrace is a pulsing gem of a song, the type that will have you shimmying along before the first chorus is complete. With a beguiling keyboard riff and throbbing bass, Erik launches into a seductive falsetto all about the unfailing nature of true love (and a direct reference to the story behind their group name - see here on Wikipedia). Like a siren's call, singing across the passages of time, the music and vocal coalesce to lure the listener into the song. The chorus the explodes into a lush wall of sound, complete with layered vocals and enough rhythm & decibel to shower healing pop glitter over the cracks in your fractured soul. Just epic.
